For a long time, the fashion industry has been depending upon cotton and other textile materials. Their production costs are high and therefore garments made out of them are charged at a higher price. Bamboo viscose fabric is a brilliant alternative for cotton in terms of softness, strength, insulating and anti-bacterial properties.
The production process of bamboo viscose fabric is economical as compared to the other textiles. It starts with the growth of the bamboo plants and the bamboo pulp is made into bamboo viscose fabric eventually. Garments like men’s bamboo t-shirts, women’s shirts, and pants have become quite popular among the masses.
How Does Bamboo Viscose Fabric Influence The Environment?
Bamboo is considered an eco-friendly viscose fabric and it is accurate for many reasons. Bamboo is easy to grow and the maturity rate is high. It can be grown even in areas that are unsuitable for other crops. The environmental impact of nurturing bamboo is minimal. The latest bamboo cultivation is relatively eco-friendly. Genuine bamboo viscose fiber is produced using methods that are not harmful to the environment.
Types Of Bamboo Viscose Fabrics
There are three types of bamboo viscose fabric primarily and they are as follows:
- Bamboo Viscose – This bamboo viscose fabric is almost similar to the other variants of viscose. Bamboo is used to produce this type of viscose fabric as it reduces manufacturing costs. Any other type of wood would have increased the price of the garment. The benefits of bamboo viscose fiber are not present in the viscose form.
- Lyocell Type – This viscose fabric is identical to viscose, however, the closed-loop method is used for its production. The production process does not alter the chemical structure of the cellulose that is used to make the viscose fabric. The viscose fabric is, therefore, able to retain most of the beneficial qualities that make the bamboo viscose fabric ideal for all types of clothes.
- Mechanically Produced Viscose Fabric – Mechanically produced bamboo viscose fiber is fine and is a true bamboo viscose fabric. The production process is time-consuming and expensive, but has more benefits than the other types of viscose fabric. They are extremely soft, strong, and durable. Men’s bamboo t-shirts made with this kind of viscose fabric are skin-friendly and lasts long.
The bamboo viscose fabric that is produced using the mechanical method can be certified as organic. However, the ones made with the viscose rayon process cannot be considered organic. Whenever you go shopping for bamboo garments, be aware of the brands that offer semi-synthetic substances and name them as organic bamboo rayon.
