This was the first official “Australia day” which was celebrated on 30th July in 1915. This was done for raising funds for the World War I efforts.

In 1916, This Australia Day committee was formed and they decided the day to be on 28th July.
Anniversary Day 26th Jan
It was in the year 1888, that New South Wales, which was the only country that was celebrating Australia Day on 26th Jan. These celebrations were only Sydney centric, where other countries and territories were not involved. In the early colonial times, this day was also celebrated as a “First Landing Day” or “the Foundation Day” by some European immigrants (especially those ex-convicts ones).
Hobart Regatta Day 1st December
This day was celebrated by the people of Tasmania in 1838. It was celebrated as a day where Tasmania was discovered by Albel Tasman in 1642. Later since 1879, this day was held in January and February.
Foundation Day 1st June
This day was celebrated as the foundation of the Swan River colony in 1829. This annual celebration was done to unify the people of this colony. Later this date kept changing as it was celebrated every 1st Monday in June. This day is now called Western Australian day.
Proclamation Day 28th Dec
This day was the foundation of South Australia and people celebrated it since 1836. However, later this was unified with the other countries to celebrate the day on 26th Jan.
Australian Day 26th Jan
This day was celebrated by all the states and territories of Australia together by 1935. It is still known as the Anniversary day in NSW and foundation day by other areas. Though there were lots of protests that had happened to change the date, this day is still called a public holiday for all states and territories since 1994.
